I was recently introduced to a history documentary series called Drive Thru History. The show has three series: Ancient History, American History, and The Holy Land. There are 12 episodes in The Holy Land series and each episode is about 28 minutes long. Currently, you can watch 11 of the 12 episodes for free at itbn.org. You can also buy the entire series on amazon.
So far, I’m really enjoying the show. The episodes are shot on location so you get to see the presenter, Dave Stotts, walking through the ancient ruins and driving in his car throughout Israel. As Dave explores the ancient sites, he shares relevant information in an engaging manner. Sometimes it seems like he’s talking directly to kids or acting like a kid with his sense of humor but he still manages to inform. To have a show that is both informative and entertaining on a topic that can be as dry as dust is impressive. (Oh yeah, Dave also likes to talk about the cars he’s driving. It seems like he’s advertising, but how can you complain when you get to watch the show for free?)
