I’m getting sick and tired of modern-day prophets who are declaring their false oracles and receiving hundreds of positive comments on YouTube.
Why are people listening to them?
Because they speak like maniacs and say, “The Lord told me . . . “? I hate to stop the obvious, but some people need to hear it: just because someone says, “The Lord told me,” doesn’t mean it’s true.
I guess people want cult-like leaders—passionate, confident, claim to know the future, and have a direct connection to God.
Why are people listening to them?
Because they don’t know the Bible. They don’t know that we have been warned about false teachers since the time of Moses. That’s more than three millennia worth of warnings about these hucksters claiming to speak for the Lord.
Why are people listening to them?
Because they want material blessings and that’s what these prophets promise. They quote the Bible occasionally, but the question is: How are they using it? When they use the Bible, they misuse it because they weave it into their personal prophecies regarding health, wealth, signs, wonders, politics, etc. Their real message is not the content of the Bible, it’s their prophecies.
I’m disturbed because I know people who have fallen for this nonsense.

Amos 3:7
Been a reader of your Posts for years now and agree with you most of the time. I will agree with you on your latest post regarding some Prophetic voices being false, but if you are suggesting all Prophetic voices today are counterfeit I will strongly urge you to refrain from painting with too broad a brush… Amos 3:7 is quite clear. There are both Prophets and teachers. They function differently within the Body and if you restrict these gifts you miss the message God wishes to proclaim, but like you stated, there is counterfeit messaging being spoken by the Evil one.
Martin,
Thanks for your comment. I’m not infallible so I hope you disagree with me from time to time. This rant is about false prophets who are leading people astray. It’s also about my disappointment with people who are gullibly accepting everything they hear when they should be testing it. For my full view on New Testament prophecy, see this post.
